I went for one of the meal replacement smoothies, the perfect choice after the very long 4th of July weekend of summer cocktails and over eating. I chose the Summerland, a blend of Kale, Romaine, Acai, Banana, Almond Milk and Cinnamon.

Lets start with Kale…..one of the most popular of the leafy greens of today.

According to one of my favorite blogs, Well & Good; Kale is an excellent source of the beauty vitamins A, C, and E, which have potent anti-aging properties and help promote healthy new cell growth. Kale is also loaded with minerals, such as magnesium and calcium that healthy skin needs.

Romaine lettuce is full of vitamin A. Vitamin A increases cell turnover and revitalizes the skin. Romaine lettuce is also rich in potassium, which improves circulation and makes the skin and hair radiant.

Acai berries are packed with an anti oxidant called anthocyanins. This anti oxidant will help reduce inflammation, in the beauty world that means helping to reduce swelling, puffiness, and fine lines.
